Lawn-Boy was acquired by The Toro Company in 1989 and eventually consolidated to the Toro headquarters in Bloomington, Minnesota. Since the acquisition from Toro, Lawn-Boy has introduced new series of lawn mowers, including a new lineup of walk-behind mowers and an entirely new category of Zero Radius Turning mowers.
Over the years, Lawn Boy lawn mowers have always had a strong customer support
and backing. They continue to do well in the market and have even upgraded
their line to include zero-radius turning mowers. This all came about with
the introduction of their better-quality machines in their Gold Series.
Many agree that Lawn-Boy's Gold Series are one of their best products to date;
combining both durability and adaptability that consumers are looking for,
not to mention a fair price that balances budget and quality.
In years past, Lawn Boy switched hands and began using Toro engines. While Toro has a strong name and offers quality, the first and only Lawn-Boy that my father used was fatally injured as he ran over a small stump, and cracked its aluminum head. It would never recover. As we wheeled what we once referred to as "Kermit" home from the town mechanic, we weren't sure what would have happened had the head been made of cast iron, like other, perhaps more expensive brands.
Nevertheless, Lawn Boy's two-cycle (2-cyl) engine is its claim to fame as
many prefer mixing the gas and oil themselves, thereby eliminating the need
to change the oil regularly as in other brands that not use a 2-cyl system.
Some of zero-radius lawn mowers now use a Briggs and Stratton Engine, which
do not operate on a 2-cyl system. So, what are you waiting for? Go and buy
lawn mower and make your lawn as beautiful as you want.
