Depending
on the drink you wish to make, in the automatic machines, you have
two simple steps to perform, namely - load the filter with ground beans
and set the water level. Let the machine do the rest! For making cappuccinos
and lattes, a ‘milk frother’ attachment is also available.
Some automatics machines may have an inbuilt grinder, while others
may not. Espresso lovers go in for a separate grinder for quality grinds.
It is possible to set the consistency of the beans in an adjustable
coffee grinder. ‘Pod compatibility is another feature of automatic
machines, in case you want to do away with the grinding completely.
However, opinions about pods differ – some people think that
the taste of the coffee becomes weak or bitter, while others simply
love the convenience.
Super Automatic Coffee Maker
By far, the most expensive coffee machines for home-use are the super-automatics.
The much superior quality of drinks they prepare, makes them quite
worth the price. These machines do the entire job for you. All you
need to do is to add the coffee beans, and the machine does the rest – grinding
the beans, tamping them into the filter and preparing your drink. These
super-automatics are fully programmable. You can set the machine at
different options for things like – strength and texture of the
beans, water level, temperature and quantity. You need to refill the
reservoir from time to time as its size varies by brand. Both for keeping
your machine clean and for making your drinks to taste their best,
distilled water is the ideal choice. Don’t forget to empty the
waste box frequently - it is here that the machine dumps the used grinds.
Additional features like cup warmers and hot water dispensers are also
available.
Cleaning and Maintaining Your Coffee Maker
Whether it is a standard machine you have or a specialty one, to keep
it in good working condition, you need to clean it regularly. Otherwise,
scaling may result from the built-up from your water inside, which
can adversely affect the life of the appliance. For removing these
deposits inside the machine, vinegar can be used. Distilled water is
the best choice, as it doesn’t leave behind scales due to impurities.
With semi-automatic and automatic machines, you need to clean all areas
of the machine regularly. It is better to read the cleaning instructions
beforehand because the specifics vary from model to model. Non-removable
brew models are self-cleaning, while removable brew group models need
to be taken out and rinsed at least once a week.
All super-automatic espresso machines and some automatics are self-cleaning.
Program the cleaner for how often you want the machine cleaned. With
such convenient clean up system, the wonderful steaming hot coffee
tastes all the more better!
